Welcome to this new website. This past July in Austin TX, at the AATF convention, there was discussion about better ways to connect with members of the various chapters. In today's world, where many teachers are online and interacting with one another through various social media outlets, why not join in and jump into the 21st century?
Please recognize that this is a work in progress, but I hope that this will help meet some of the needs of the teachers in our Downstate IL AATF chapter. I would prefer to have all the information in here in French, but I have not yet explored all of Weebly's functions to allow me to type in French and enter in the accents...I have googled it and seen some information about but have not tested it out yet. So that is my next goal - to figure it out and eventually have this site FRANCOPHONE to model for our students what we ask of them - use French, stay in French!

Great idea. Particularly since so many of our members are the only French teacher in their schools, staying in touch with colleagues can play such a positive role in our professional lives!

Thanks for taking on this daunting task! We all appreciate your efforts. With the decline of French in our public schools, we need all the help that we can get. In the Bloomington-Normal area, they tried to take French out of the middle school. Fortunately, there were enough parents who insisted that it be maintained, so they reinstated it at the last moment. In our own laboratory middle shool, however, they eliminated French and replaced it with Mandarin. I just hope that we can continue to offer French at University High School in Normal. Keep up the good work!!!

Am so glad to hear that a middle school in Bloomington-Normal succeeded in keeping their French program. As a member of the AATF Commission on Advocacy, I'd love to hear more about how the parents were able to use their influence to make that happen. Can you tell me the name of the school so that I can contact the French teacher?

Bravo, un très bon début pour le site web! Communication is key, for sharing resources, reaching out, and being connected / feeling like part of a community of French teachers.
